How to go Viral on TikTok: Is TrendPop the Answer?

As a social media marketer, you’ve been told by a client that one of their “business goals” is to go viral, a request we all dread hearing. Obviously, we all know that time and consistency help to build a brand’s following. That is unless you’re using TikTok.
TikTok is a fascinating social media platform because people can successfully go viral, intentionally or not. TikTok is great for creating content that gets you or your clients in front of new accounts. As a casual TikTok user, you’ve probably noticed that the app always opens on your For You Page rather than on who you’re following. This algorithm style is so successful that Meta has slowly incorporated this into Facebook and Instagram (to the chagrin of its users).
One way to help get views and, subsequently, more followers is to jump on TikTok trends as early as possible. But how does one learn about trends before they’re over? TikTok trends are moving faster than ever, and without their Discover Page, it feels like you just always have to be on TikTok (and on the right “side” of TikTok. If you have clients in different niches, this can make it even more difficult).
One solution that has surfaced is a new tool called TrendPop.
What Does TrendPop Have to Offer?
TrendPop is a tool that aims to help its users find the trends as they’re happening. The tool pulls in real-time data, helping to identify trends. While the free version is fairly limited, the potential this has, if accurate, is impressive.
TrendPop pulls in and tracks sound and hashtags that it believes are on the rise. It also showcases what is currently trending. This also includes user accounts, which can be an efficient way to research influencer marketing, especially since you can sort by views, engagement, followers, location, language, and more.
Unfortunately, as you can see, its six-day free trial is extremely limited, so it is difficult to get a full picture of the potential this tool has. Also, how up-to-date the data is questionable.
From the featured entities page, you can click on and explore more data. For example, click on the top sound, and you can see the top videos to get a sense of the trend, how many engagements overall the sound is generating, as well as the timeline of the trend and when it was last dated. For the trending sound featured below, you can see that the data was updated within the last hour.
However, when looking closer at the #delusional hashtag, the data hadn’t been refreshed in twenty-eight days.
A cool feature that TrendPop does offer is the ability to search for hashtags, sounds, keywords, and even URLs under their reports tab. Something very useful is the ability to use a date range. TikTok’s native features are limited when it comes to searching by date.
While the native time filter is limited, through TrendPop there is much more control over looking for videos from specific date ranges, which makes it much easier for marketers to find current UGC and videos that are emerging in virality. This allows community managers to engage early, posting their comments, and giving clients/brands, more visibility.
Another useful feature is searching based on category. Not only does this allow marketers to search for new influencers, but this also helps brands see who their competitors are within their niche. Competitor analysis can give amazing insights into what is and isn’t working for your content marketing strategy on the platform.
Conclusion
The tool offers other more features that allow for easier organization, analytics reports, and more. Looking through their extremely limited free trial, all in all, TrendPop is very promising for agencies and businesses that are trying to leverage TikTok for their marketing strategy.
